RAILWAY, AN INSTRUMENT OF SOVEREIGNTY AND POWER

Rail transport makes an incomparable contribution to the lives of populations and, more generally, to the development of the countries that have adopted it. The levers of this sector constitute powerful assets for achieving the Sustainable Development Goals and the integration of territories in Europe, Africa, and around the world. The economic and state sovereignty issues associated with the rail sector are addressed. The originality of the book lies in its exploration of geopolitics, legal and regulatory battles, as well as aspects related to technology, innovation, artificial intelligence, and cybersecurity within this sector. The themes of "zero trust," the sector’s end-to-end resilience in the face of threats, systemic and protean risks linked to digital technology, as well as the convergence between information technology (IT) and operational technology (OT) are explored.
